Founded in 1890, Banner Bank is a Washington state chartered commercial bank and a subsidiary of Banner Corporation, a $2 billion bank holding company. For more than a century Banner Bank and its employees have played an important part in the history and growth of the communities we serve. With headquarters in Walla Walla, Washington, the Bank began expanding its service area in the 1960s throughout eastern, central and north central Washington under the name First Savings Bank of Washington. In October 1995 the Company converted from a mutual organization to a public company traded on The Nasdaq Stock Market under the name of First Washington Bancorp, Inc. and using ''FWWB'' as its stock symbol.
The following years were a period of tremendous growth as the Company developed partnerships with a number of prominent regional commercial banks. Inland Empire Bank, with branches throughout northeastern Oregon, specialized in agricultural, commercial and consumer lending. A rapidly expanding community business bank, Towne Bank served customers in the Puget Sound area of Washington. Whatcom State Bank, in Bellingham, Washington, and Seaport Citizens Bank, in Lewiston, Idaho, expanded our service area east into Idaho and north to the Canadian border.
