Greetings,
Please join us on Thursday, Sept. 26th from 7:30-9:00 am, for a Community Conversation on Workforce Development. We’re on a mission to change the way students, parents, educators and our community thinks about CTE (Career & Technical Education) and the skills needed for the jobs of today and into the future. We’re working very closely with the Tigard Tualatin School District on the roll-out of a program called #WorkReady. Our Superintendent, Dr. Sue Rieke-Smith, helped develop and launch this program at her last position in Springfield, OR. (see attached) We’ve already held the 8th grade Career Exploration Day with 800 students from Hazelbrook Middle School, and as many of you know…..it was a huge success.
Our #WorkReady Community Conversation will convene Key Employers, Leaders and Influencers of the area to see how we can take this program district wide. It will provide students other options besides the working in “minimum wage jobs for life” or “taking on the debt of a four+ year degree” that may or may not provide them with most needed life skills. With your help, we can CHANGE the FUTURE.
