Understanding the Numbers:

Many go into the human resources profession because they like working with people. It's not surprising then, to find HR people prefer working with employees over working with numbers. Sadly, the language of business is numbers and HR professionals who don’t know enough about this quantitative side can lose credibility or their influence.

This session will not just educate you on some of the numbers business leaders need to know, but also focuses on the HR metrics and analysis most relevant to the HR profession.  During this two-hour session we’ll discuss how to set a merit budget, correlating causes and effects, even design a bonus plan that pays for itself.

Rick Howell, our speaker, has almost 30 years of HR experience and has his MBA in finance.  Who better to relate these concepts?  Gain confidence through competence in this practical and engaging session.

• He holds BA and MBA degrees from Washington State University and holds his SPHR, CCP credentials, and was among the first in the nation to earn the GPHR certification in 2004.
• Rick has also been an adjunct professor at Washington State University, Portland State University, and/or City University for the past twenty-five years. Rick started the WSU Vancouver Student HR Chapter.
