DESCRIPTION:March Speaker: Renee James with Boones Landing Physical Therapy\n\nTopic: Just Keep Moving - Why Physical Activity and Exercise are Important\n\n\n\nManaging Your Health: The Role of Physical Therapy and Exercise will introduce learners to the concepts and benefits of physical therapy and exercise. I will share some important information on the benefits of physical activity with you and also identify ways that you can assess your own physical activity levels. We'll also ask you to reflect on your own activity level and ask you to consider if you think you should modify your activity level. \n\n\n\nRene'e James\, MSPT\, OCS\, CMP - Rene'e grew up in Redwood Falls\, Minnesota.  She attended North Dakota State University receiving a B.S in Exercise Science. She then attended University of Minnesota for her masters in physical therapy graduating in 2002.  Sports\, injuries and rehabilitation have guided her to study physical therapy.  Rene'e is an orthopedic certified specialist who specializes in running related injuries and biomechanics. She sees many running enthusiasts that are working towards an easy 5K fun run as well as those that are training for New York or Boston marathon. She has assisted with triathlete clinics and participated in the training of high school and college runners. \n\n\n\nDuring Rene'e's career she has had the opportunity to work in a multitude of physical therapy settings including 3 years of contract work around the United States. Settings included working in a level I and II trauma hospital at UCI medical center with patients in ICU and medical surgery floor to large hospital settings with post-operative total joint replacements Additionally\, Rene'e spent time in Reno/Tahoe area focusing on spinal related injuries. \n\n\n\nAs concussion awareness has been increasing\, Rene'e most recently has been focusing on post concussion management and treatment following minor head injuries. With her athletic background Rene'e has been fortunate enough to work with athletes from multiple sports. She enjoys running\, water skiing\, downhill skiing and vacations with her husband and two daughters.  \n\n\n\n\n\nOur mission is to promote the sharing of health-related resources and information while providing a forum for networking and education for local traditional and alternative health care professionals.
