SUMMARY:Health & Wellness Wednesday via ZOOM
DESCRIPTION:This October's presentation will be hosted by Dr. Christopher Jacobs\, founder and inventor of Genteel.\n\n\n\nTopic: Diabetic or Not: What your blood sugar levels mean for long term health\, and how to protect yourself.\n\n\n\nThere is a mistaken belief that if your doctor doesn't tell you that you have diabetes\, you don't have to pay attention to your blood sugar levels. Unfortunately\, with today's processed foods and the addition of sugar\, especially high fructose corn syrup\, in such a high percentage of what we put in our mouths\, blood sugar levels can spike momentarily. Also\, we are all different and what would spike your blood sugar may have little effect on your friend's blood sugar\, and visa versa.\n\n\n\nEach time our blood sugar spikes it causes a small amount of damage to our body\, in general\, and specifically to the small capillaries throughout our body\, such as in our eyes and ears. In the long run that damage builds up and\, as we age\, we can suffer a myriad of ailments that we might associate with normal aging\, but which could be avoided if we paid simple attention to and took control of our blood sugar.\n\n\n\nThe parameter that doctors check to see how high your blood sugar level is "A1c". An A1c of below 6 is considered acceptable\; below 5 is considered excellent. The problem is that A1c is an indicator of your "average" blood sugar level and does not necessarily reflect how many short- term peaks you are experiencing.\n\n\n\nThis talk will clarify the mystery and mis-information about blood sugar and will discuss how\, using simple\, readily available equipment\, you can\, and should\, map your personal blood sugar so you can not only improve your A1c\, but also significantly reduce or even eliminate blood sugar cell damaging spiking. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCHRISTOPHER A JACOBS\, PH.D.\, EE: \n\nPresident/Founder\, Genteel LLC\, manufacturer of Genteel\, the only vacuum-assist lancing device to draw a small drop of capillary from anywhere on the body with no pain (FDA 510(K) Cleared\n\nDomestic and international sales\, worldwide\n\n2012 to present\n\nTualatin\, Oregon\n\nAtmospheric Impurities Reduction\, development and sales of emissions-lowering equipment for gasoline-powered vehicles\, 2000-2013\n\nPh.D.\, University of Southern California\, Los Angeles\, 1971\n\nMassachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)\, Boston\, Massachusetts\, 1962\n\nWorcester Polytechnic Institute\, Worcester\, Massachusetts\, 1962\n\nResearch and Development of Variable Rate Cardiac Pacemaker\, Advanced Medical Technology (AMTEK)\, 1969\n\nBiomedical engineer/research and development of Variable Rate Cardiac Pacemaker\, Control Systems for Artificial Kidneys\, Rapid Eye Movement Dream Detector\, Electrodermatology techniques to treat skin disorders\n\nMultiple Automotive Engineering Achievements in Design and Instrumentation\n\nPublished author\, over 350 technical articles on automotive application and technology\; technical manual\, The Doctor's Step-by-Step Guide to Optimizing Your Ignition\n\n8 US\, 22 International patents\n\nEntrepreneur of the Year\, Portland Business Journal\, September 2018\n\nOregon Consular Corps Emerging Exporter of the Year Award\, 2016\n\nSociety of Automotive Engineers (SAE)\, Design Review Committee\n\nMember\, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)\, Life Master Engineer\n\n\n\nOur mission is to promote the sharing of health-related resources and information while providing a forum for networking and education for local traditional and alternative health care professionals.
